The Willamette Valley is home to many lush farmlands, a flourishing wine industry and a handful of beautiful, natural wonders. We begin our exploration of the valley with our first stop at Rosse Posse Acres, a family-run farm where you can get up close and personal with majestic herds of elk in a way you won’t find anywhere else. Continuing through the Willamette Valley’s green fields and rolling hills, arrive at The Oregon Garden Resort situated in the historic town of Silverton. While here, enjoy a picnic lunch before sauntering through more than 20 specialty gardens and features which include waterfalls, fountains, a display of conifers and beautiful vistas. End the day at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. Find yourself staring at a kaleidoscope of colours with over 40 acres of tulips and daffodils blooming simultaneously. You and your eyes are guaranteed a delectable viewing experience. (*At discretion of Mother Nature). Return to the Holiday Inn for an evening of leisure. A shuttle from the hotel is available within a five-mile radius if you choose to go shopping or eat at a local restaurant. (B, L)
Begin the day high in the West Hills of Portland where the Pittock Mansion soars 1,000 feet above the city’s skyline. A century-old symbol of Portland’s dramatic transformation from small lumber town to bustling city, it’s an architectural wonder – no other place offers a more breathtaking view or a more revealing glimpse of Portland’s past. Then board the Spirit of Portland where live entertainment, delicious Northwest cuisine and amazing views provide the perfect ingredients for a Portland lunch while enjoying a two-hour cruise on the Willamette River. As we bid farewell to the City of Roses and begin the journey north, we’ve planned a presentation and guided tour of Wolf Haven International. Since 1982 Wolf Haven has rescued and provided a permanent home for more than 200 captive-born wolves where they receive a lifetime of compassionate care and are treated with dignity and respect for Mother Nature. Next, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Falls Terrace offering beautiful views of the Tumwater Falls. Our final night is at the lovely Tulalip Resort Casino. Settle into the luxurious surroundings and take advantage of all its amazing amenities. (B, L, MV)
Continuing north, we cross the border back into beautiful British Columbia. Bid a fond farewell to travelling companions as we make our way over the Coquihalla arriving home early this evening. (B)
