Head for the coast via the Coquihalla Highway, and enter the lush and fertile Fraser Valley. The region comes alive in springs as farm and field begin to erupt into growth. Take a drive through the fields of blooms around Agassiz, and make a brief top at Minter Country Store. Maybe Brian Minter will be available to speak to us! Arrive late afternoon at Harrison Hot Springs Resort. There is time for a relaxing soak in the healing waters of the hot springs pools, or maybe an indulgent spa treatment, or simply time to lounge in your luxurious. Tonight, join your group for a fabulous evening of dining and dancing in the renowned Copper Room. (D)
Please note: The Copper Room has a minimum dress request. We appreciate it when you dress up a little – your good jeans are welcome with a nice pair of shoes, but if you could, please leave your T-shirts, shorts and running shoes in your room. We wouldn’t want you to be late for dinner.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival takes place on the farm of the Warmerdam family, immigrants from the Netherlands, and celebrates the beauty of tulips and the Dutch heritage in the Fraser Valley. Get lost in the brilliant display of colour and stroll through the tulip fields, shop the flower market, and visit the U-pick tulip field. There is free time for lunch and to wander the brick-lined streets of historic downtown Abbotsford, then we head to nearby Mission and a visit to Westminster Abbey to learn about monastic life. Follow the north side of the Fraser River to Kilby Historic Site, BC’s museum of rural life. Step back in time at buildings like the 1906 General Store, the heritage post office and Manchester House Hotel. Back at Harrison Hot Springs, the evening is yours. (B)
Enjoy a leisurely morning and a late check out, then return home relaxed and rejuvenated.
