The Calgary Stampede is called the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth for good reason. For 10 days every July Calgary welcomes the world to a spectacular celebration of western heritage and values. With rodeo competitions, chuck wagon races, a midway carnival, live music, festival events, arts and culture there is definitely something for everyone. We give you 2 full days of Stampede excitement including Rodeo and Show passes and more. Join in the celebration of the 106th Annual Calgary Stampede.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Rocky Mountains as we make our way to Calgary, AB – home to the world famous Calgary Stampede. With a stop in Revelstoke and lunch in Golden we make our way to the bustling city of Calgary for our three night stay at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre. This evening is at your leisure.
Enjoy your day at the Calgary Stampede where you will have plenty of time to explore the various exhibits and vendors before taking in the afternoon Rodeo. The caliber of a rodeo comes down to two things; the skill of the competitors and the quality of the horses, bulls and steers. The Stampede Rodeo features the world’s best competitors. Watch in fascination as cowboys and cowgirls face off in a furious display of skill and grit. (B, MV)
Set your own schedule today or join us this morning as we visit the Chinook Centre Mall. Take in Stampede activities this afternoon using your park admission passes. There is so much to see including hundreds of displays and booths. The highlight for this evening is the GMC Rangeland Derby & TransAlta Grandstand Show. This unique doubleheader kicks off with the GMC Rangeland Derby, featuring nine heats of four chuckwagons each; excitement that’s measured on the Richter Scale! When the last wagon thunders over the finish line, the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show begins with elaborate song and dance numbers, acrobatics and a spectacular fireworks finale. (B, MV)
Once again, we invite you to enjoy the scenic journey as we make our way past Revelstoke to our final night at the quirky Three Valley Lake Chateau, a labour of love still owned and operated by the Bell family, pioneers in BC tourism. Take a guided tour of the Heritage Ghost Town, a collection of original buildings moved and restored to this location, and the Railyway Roundhouse, the largest operational one in North America with 24 bays. Swap ghost stories with your new friends over a delicious BBQ dinner served in the saloon. (B,D)
With a stop at The Last Spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway we bid farewell to our fellow passengers and arrive home mid- afternoon. (B)
